Paul Herman, CEO & Founder
Chief Investment Officer, Chief Compliance Officer

Series 65 Investment Adviser Representative

Paul invented “HIP =  (Human Impact + Profit)” in 2004 to  connect for-profit investors seeking positive human, social and environmental impacts and financial returns with investments designed to deliver those intended results. Since then, Paul and the HIP team have advised investors (individuals, families and foundations – and their investment advisers);  launched and manage the HIP 100 Index (SM) portfolio (a sustainable substitute for the S&P 100); and manage wealth for clients seeking their portfolios to become more HIP. The HIP Scorecard (SM) ratings and rankings – which focus on quantifiable metrics of sustainability and how they drive financial performance – have been featured in Fast Company magazine and online in 2007, 2008 and 2010. [HIP has also advised corporate clients, like Walmart and NIKE, on how to be more HIP.] Paul's landmark book,
The HIP Investor: Make Bigger Profits by Building a Better World is published by John Wiley & Sons, and swiftly became a top 20 business book bestseller in April 2010 for Inc . magazine / 800ceoRead.com. Paul's financial expertise began with his Wharton  School finance degree and work at McKinsey & Co. developing incentive regulation for energy companies and regulators, as well as  strategic improvements for Fortune 500 corporate clients  and government at CSC Index. At eBay founder Pierre Omidyar's Network, Paul designed investment strategy that also enabled high human impact, including venture-backed growth companies. Paul led Ashoka.org's fundraising and partnerships as Chief Development Officer globally, expanding its donations and entreprenurial networks. Paul's first pioneering venture reached 30,000 customers by creating a permission-based online debit card and financial system for families, teens and kids, a $200 billion market that including shopping, saving, investing and donating. Paul's own HIP investing includes companies in microfinance, organic food, renewable  energy,  affordable health care, and  B2B systems.  Paul is an Investment Committee member of the Patient Capital fund and an advisor to Net Impact. Paul is also a peer expert for InterfaceRAISE, an adjunct professor teaching MBAs at Thammasat Business School in Bangkok, Thailand, and a visiting lecturer for MBAs, including the Presidio MBA Graduate School in San Francisco.

R. Paul Herman created the HIP(SM) methodology for investors, companies and organizations  worldwide to realize Human Impact + Profit (SM).  Herman's financial acumen was honed at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, consultants McKinsey & Co. and CSC Index, and he helped accelerate social entrepreneurs at Ashoka.org and Omidyar Network. Herman advises investors and manages portfolios – including the HIP 100 Index –  using “The HIP Scorecard (SM),” which is also featured in Fast Company magazine and in his new  book. Herman advises leading corporations – including Walmart, NIKE and Cisco –  and foundations on how to be more HIP.   His insights have been quoted in the   Wall Street Journal, Fortune, Forbes, BusinessWeek, and on CNN and CNBC.

William Getman, RN, Director of Education, Energy Practitioner
William Getman is a nurse currently practicing at Griffin Hospital in Derby where he works in the Intensive Care Unit. Although his daily practice is in allopathic medicine, his passion is healing. To heal means to make whole and since energy is the next larger context for any physical object, energy medicine is required to complement the allopathic interventions that current medical practice dictates if healing is to occur. This is true whether that object is a human body or whether it is the land itself and all of the various life forms associated with and residing on that land. As part of his work in nursing, Bill performs Therapeutic Touch with the patients under his care as part of the extended services offered by Griffin Hospital. In addition, at the request of the hospital, he has recently completed an energetic clearing of the land on which Griffin is built in order to strengthen the healing qualities of the patient environment. In addition to nursing and energy work, Bill's passion includes teaching metaphysics and galactic history. In this context, he focuses on ways in which the individual can access his own knowledge of the truth in ways that will facilitate the practical conduct of daily life and the solution of personal problems. Bill is an executive on the Building Bridges Advisory Board consulting for the development of Integrative Health Care Protocol, Energy and Healing techniques and is the department Chair for the Galactic History department of the Charon School of Integration.

BODY WORK & YOGA

Rob Martin
Back in the mid-80's I read Ken Dychtwald's book "Bodymind" and became fascinated with the idea of increasing body awareness through hands-on approaches, such as Dr. Rolf's Method of Structural Integration. But it wasn't until 1991 that I finally received the work. My Structural Integration experience changed my body so profoundly, that I no longer perceived the world the same as I did prior to that event. I was different, yet I couldn't quite grasp what had happened to me. I spent time researching this and other modalities and in 1993 I took my first massage course with Robert Brown out in Santa Rosa, CA. I practiced massage for several years in Rhode Island and then moved to Boulder, CO to study at the Guild for Structural Integration with Emmett Hutchins and Peter Melchior. By mid-2001, I had opened my practice in Connecticut, and now thoroughly enjoy walking to work in my socks with a cup of tea in hand, having fun exploring all the interesting possibilities and being open to what my clients can teach me each day. I've continued my education studying anatomy with Michael Morrison, Thai massage with Kam Thye Chow in Montreal, Jason Beasley and Noji Okada, Koji Hiroshige and Pichest Boonthumme in Chiang Mai, Muscle Energy Techniques with Stephan Moran in Connecticut, Hatha Yoga with Ellen Schaeffer in Rhode Island and movement work with Ed Maupin in San Diego. As time goes on, I will continue to explore new ideas and theories related to my work. To find out more information please go to Rob's website at: www.rolfbodyworks.org or call him at (860) 617-1234.

Holistic Public Policy & New Systems for Law Enforcement Advisory Panel

Barbara Bailey, MS
MS Integration Consultant and Director of the Integrated Public Policy and Criminal Justice Department
Barbara's passion lies in working to bring a more holistic perspective to the field of Criminal Justice. She earned her Master of Science degree with a concentration in Criminal Justice from Boston University. She is currently in the dissertation stage of her doctoral studies, and at completion will earn a Ph.D. in Criminal Justice. Presently she is a Program Consultant and Evaluator, and works in higher education as an Adjunct Instructor teaching criminal justice to a diverse student population.

Prior to that, she spent much of her adult life as a criminal justice practitioner, working as a Deputy Sheriff. Barbara's personal journey began more than 15 years ago when she recognized a need to balance her Mental side with her Spirituality and discover her truth. She has studied many healing modalities and earned many certifications such as Reiki Master/Teacher, Theta Healing Practitioner, and Hypnotherapist. Barbara came to the realization that there is a much "Bigger Picture" to life and its dysfunctions and challenges. Her ability to combine and apply this bigger picture construct with esoteric information to the criminal justice system has opened up new ideas and ways of working with the "criminal mind" and our criminal justice system.

Barbara brings an integrated approach to the field of criminal justice with her ultimate goal to focus on being a part of a movement that shifts away from duality in the criminal justice system, "us against them" and bring to light the fact that the criminal justice system merely represents the collective shadow. As we all deal with our own "darkness" and heal ourselves, we heal the dysfunctional systems and bring light to the fact that we are all one. From her perspective, it is now time for the old belief systems holding the “us against them” mentality to fall away, and to be replaced with a belief system that does not blame but rather focuses on seeing the bigger picture, taking responsibility and applying new ideas based in quantum research to creating the new systems that will sustain us through the vast changes happening on the planet today. Barbara has been inspired by many criminologists, including Richard Quinney, Harold Pepinsky, John Fuller, and others who have worked to bring a more peacemaking perspective to the field of criminal justice.

Building Holistic, Integrity-Based Political Paradigms Advisory Panel

Dr. John Hagelin

Dr. Hagelin is currently Director of the Institute of Science, Technology and Public Policy, a leading science and technology think tank, and International Director of the Global Union of Scientists for Peace, an organization of leading scientists throughout the world dedicated to ending nuclear proliferation and establishing lasting world peace. Dr. Hagelin also serves as President of the United States Peace Government, a knowledge-based, complementary government composed of hundreds of America's top scientists, which advocates proven, prevention-oriented solutions to critical social problems; and Minister of Science and Technology of the Global Country of World Peace, an international organization dedicated to prevention-oriented government, world peace, and global administration through natural law.

John Hagelin, Ph.D., is a world-renowned quantum physicist, educator, public policy expert, and leading proponent of peace. Dr. Hagelin received his A.B. summa cum laude from Dartmouth College and his M.A. and Ph.D. from Harvard University, and conducted pioneering research at CERN (the European Center for Particle Physics) and SLAC (the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center). His scientific contributions in the fields of electroweak unification, grand unification, super-symmetry and cosmology include some of the most cited references in the physical sciences. He is also responsible for the development of a highly successful Grand Unified Field Theory based on the Superstring. Dr. Hagelin is therefore at the pinnacle of achievement among the elite cadre of physicists who have fulfilled Einstein's dream of a “theory of everything” through their mathematical formulation of the Unified Field—the most advanced scientific knowledge of our time.

But Dr. Hagelin is unique among scientists in being the first to apply this most advanced knowledge for the practical benefit of humankind. He has pioneered the use of Unified Field-based technologies proven to reduce crime, violence, terrorism, and war and to promote peace throughout society—technologies derived from the ancient Vedic science of consciousness. He has published groundbreaking research establishing the existence of long-range “field effects” of consciousness generated through collective meditation, and has shown that large meditating groups can effectively defuse acute societal stress—thereby preventing violence and social conflict, and providing a practical foundation for permanent world peace.

For the last quarter century, Dr. Hagelin has led an international investigation into the nature and origin of consciousness, including higher states of human consciousness. In his seminal book, Manual for a Perfect Government, Dr. Hagelin shows how, through educational programs that develop human consciousness, and through policies and programs that effectively harness the laws of nature, it is possible to solve and to prevent acute social problems, and to profoundly enhance governmental achievements.

In recognition of his outstanding achievements, Dr. Hagelin was named winner of the prestigious Kilby Award, which recognizes scientists who have made “major contributions to society through their applied research in the fields of science and technology.” The award recognized Dr. Hagelin as “a scientist in the tradition of Einstein, Jeans, Bohr and Eddington.” Please click here for more: www.hagelin.org/about.html.
